Hyundai Reveals 2024 Sonata for the North American Market in Digital News Conference

Hyundai Motor North America recently launched its latest version of the Sonata midsize sedan at a digital news conference held on YouTube. The 2024 Sonata boasts a sportier design with a long hood, improved aerodynamics, and a wider front-end layout that comes with a seamless horizon lamp. The new sedan features a new centre-stack display that combines the driver information cluster and infotainment system, which enhances the user experience.

During the YouTube broadcast, Simon Loasby, an influential designer and head of the Hyundai Style Group at Hyundai Motor Company, spearheaded the design enhancements. José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America and President and Global COO of Hyundai Motor Company, delved into the reasons behind the resurgence of consumer interest in sedans.

2024 Sonata Design and Features

2024 Sonata Design and Features

The newest design of Hyundai's Sonata showcases a modern aesthetic. With its super-wide stance, fresh appearance, and sleek modern design, the vehicle presents a cool and appealing package. Embodying Hyundai's theme of Sensuous Sportiness, the Sonata's low-slung design and coupe-like styling contribute to making it the most aerodynamic Sonata ever produced.

The rear of the Sonata showcases its broad stance and sophisticated character. Enhancing its sporty allure are the black trunk lid shaped like a spoiler and exhaust-shaped rear-end treatment. Aligning with its sporty design, the new Sonata interior features a driver-centric layout with elements that cater to modern lifestyles.

The vehicle also features continuous Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates, saving customers money while keeping the car's software updated at all times. The new Sonata boasts some powerful specifications, with a range of powertrains and improved features aimed to help drivers have the most comfortable and relaxed driving experience.

The updated Sonata is offered in standard internal combustion engine (ICE) models, sporty N Line variants, or hybrid electric (HEV) versions, each with multiple engine options to choose from, such as the gasoline-powered 2.5-litre engine, 2.5-litre turbo engine, and 2.0-litre hybrid electric engine (HEV).

For the first time, the Sonata is now equipped with Hyundai's tested HTRAC (Hyundai TRACtion) AWD all-wheel-drive system. Paired with the 2.5-litre engine, HTRAC enhances driving performance and offers all-weather capabilities by efficiently distributing torque between the front and rear wheels based on the road conditions and driving scenarios.

Hyundai Sonata Safety Features

To ensure the driver's safety and comfort, the new Sonata boasts multiple driver-assist and safety features. The vehicle's vibration, noise, and harshness performance have been further refined by incorporating body reinforcements and using different steering wheel materials. Its innovative remote smart parking assist feature allows users to park their car and leave parking spots conveniently by remotely maneuvering the vehicle using the smart key from outside. The Rear Occupant Alert system is an advanced feature that detects whether an infant is left unattended inside the car and instantly notifies the driver.
