The Hyundai model has three available trims, the cheapest being the XRT at a starting price of $46,999*. The highest tier trim, the Ultimate Calligraphy, comes at a starting price of $53,499*. Many differences can be seen between these three trims, from wheels to the engine.
The Subaru comes in six trims you can pick from, with the Forester being its base trim and starting at $34,572*. The highest value trim, the Premier, starts at $45,172* and shows a significant difference in pricing between the Forester and the Santa Fe.
The Hyundai's base model features a Smartstream 2.5-litre Turbo GDI engine. The engine is paired with an eight-speed Dual Clutch Transmission, which features a SHIFTRONIC manual mode. All-terrain tires provide fair grip, outstanding performance on almost any road surface and plenty of environments when headed off-road.
All models of the Forester feature a 2.5-litre Direct Injection SUBARU BOXER engine. A Lineartronic CVT transmission makes changing gears and modes easier while maintaining optimal performance on the road. The base model of the SUV is equipped with all-season tires, which perform well on most terrains and road surfaces.
The Hyundai's exterior features a powered sunroof, perfect for extra light or airflow during hot summer days. Mirror covers for the XRT are black, and the body features a C-pillar assist handle for added accessibility. It features a set of 18-inch alloy wheels.
The Forester's base trim features 17-inch wheels with steel covers and raised profile roof rails with tie-down holes. Mirrors on the Subaru are body coloured, as are the vehicle's door handles.
Having the higher price, the Hyundai offers a comfortable and more luxurious interior that features a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. Rear seating is a 60/40 split fold-flat seat with adjustable head restraints. Seating surfaces for the XRT model are leatherette, which wipes clean easily and offers a stylish appearance.
The Subaru's seating surfaces across its trims include cloth, premium cloth, and leather on its highest trim tiers. The front seats on the base model are heated, and the heated steering wheel is only available on all other trims aside from the base model.
The Hyundai XRT boasts a 12.3-inch full digital display instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system of the same size. The Subaru Forester features a 6.5-inch infotainment system; the largest on its trims is only 8.0 inches. The instrument cluster for all models on the Forester is a 4.2-inch colour multi-information display.
